Hunter Valley Mining Expo welcomes new Association Partner

The Hunter Valley Mining Expo (HVME) is strengthening its connection to the engineering and technical community, with the Australian Society for Bulk Solids Handling (ASBSH) joining the inaugural event as an Association Partner.

Taking place on 19–20 May 2027 at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, the Hunter Valley Mining Expo will bring together mining companies, suppliers, technology providers, engineers and industry leaders for two days of business, innovation and connection.

The association brings a valuable technical perspective to the event, with bulk materials handling sitting at the heart of mining.

ASBSH Administration and Communications Coordinator Danielle Harris said the organisation would help connect practical engineering knowledge with real mining challenges.

“ASBSH can bring practical engineering knowledge into conversations around the real challenges facing the mining industry,” Harris said.

“We can help bring together expertise from across the industry, including mining, engineering, equipment suppliers, research and bulk-handling operations. This helps create a forum where problems can be discussed across organisational boundaries, and where emerging technologies and proven engineering practices can be compared.”

The partnership comes as the Hunter Valley Mining Expo approaches capacity, with less than 10 exhibition stands remaining.

Harris said being involved as an Association Partner means more than simply putting ASBSH’s name behind an event.

“It is an opportunity to actively contribute its technical expertise, professional network and industry perspective to a forum that brings together the people responsible for designing, operating and improving mining systems,” Harris said.

“The Hunter Valley is a particularly appropriate setting for this perspective. It is one of Australia’s major mining regions, with a large existing infrastructure base with a strong need to continually improve productivity, reliability, safety and efficiency.

“Bulk solids handling is fundamental to mining operations, from conveying and storage through to transfer, processing and transport. Newcastle has strong links to the Hunter’s mining operations, including engineering, logistics, manufacturing and port infrastructure.”

Harris said holding the event in Newcastle would help bring the broader mining and engineering community together.

“Having the event here makes it easier for mining companies, engineers, technology providers, universities, contractors, suppliers and researchers to meet in one place and work through practical challenges together,” Harris said.

Prime Creative Media Relationship Manager – Mining Events Rebecca Todesco said ASBSH’s involvement adds significant value to the event.

“ASBSH brings a wealth of technical expertise and industry knowledge to HVME, making it a fantastic addition to our growing network of industry partners,” Todesco said.

The expo will feature leading mining and engineering suppliers, emerging technologies and solutions, alongside a conference program exploring the key issues shaping the region’s mining future.

Looking ahead to the event, Harris said ASBSH was particularly looking forward to connecting with the Hunter Valley mining community.

“For ASBSH, it’s a chance to listen, share knowledge and understand where our expertise can add value. We’re particularly excited about creating connections that go beyond the event itself and supporting a stronger, more connected engineering community across the region,” she said.
